About me…

Hi, I’m Mitch, a theatre maker from the North East of England. My route into theatre wasn’t exactly straightforward, but that’s kind of the point.

I originally studied Interior Architecture at Newcastle College, where I quickly realised theatre was where I actually belonged. Instead of dropping out, I convinced my tutor to let me design theatre sets, which led to work experience at Alnwick Playhouse. I got stuck into lighting, sound, and set building, and what started as a short placement turned into a part-time job.

In 2018, I joined National Youth Theatre, before training at East 15 Acting School on the Acting & Stage Combat course. While there, I set up my own company, Shoddy Theatre, which has gone on to sell out several UK tour as well as runs at the Edinburgh Fringe, New Normal Festival and the Camden Fringe. I graduated with First Class Honours and picked up early credits with the Royal Opera House, BBC, and various stage and screen projects.

When the pandemic hit, I shifted my focus more towards producing. I took every chance to learn workshops, industry mentoring, and hands-on roles and really fell in love with the behind-the-scenes process of making theatre happen.

Now, I work across performance and production, creating bold, engaging theatre experiences.

I’m also a massive Newcastle United fan. ⚫⚪
